Not sure which Vapor Trapper fits your build? Start by looking at your available mounting space, vent-line size, and the type of vehicle or fuel system you are working with.
Vapor Trapper offers 4-inch, 6-inch, 8-inch, Low Profile, and High Performance configurations.
Each model captures fuel vapors and eliminates the raw gas smell, but the right option depends on how much room you have and the requirements of your vent system.

4-Inch Vapor Trapper: Compact and Easy to Fit
The 4-inch Vapor Trapper places the same core design features into a smaller, compact body.
It is designed for tight spaces and applications where mounting room is limited, making it especially useful for:
UTVs
Smaller vehicles
Compact custom builds
Installations with limited mounting space
The 4-inch model is available in black or silver billet aluminum and features serviceable charcoal media, just like the larger Vapor Trapper models.
Best for: Smaller vehicles and tight installations where saving space is the main priority.

6-Inch Vapor Trapper: The Mid-Sized Option
The 6-inch Vapor Trapper is designed for mid-sized applications where you have more mounting room but do not need the full size of the 8-inch model.
It offers a strong balance of compact dimensions and charcoal capacity, making it a versatile choice for many vehicles.
The 6-inch model is also available with optional -8 end caps for higher-airflow vent lines up to 1/2 inch.
Best for: Mid-sized applications, typical street builds, and vehicles that need more capacity than the compact 4-inch model.

8-Inch Vapor Trapper: High-Capacity Performance
The 8-inch Vapor Trapper is the original high-capacity design and the best-selling option in the cylindrical lineup.
Its larger charcoal-media capacity is built for long-lasting performance and makes it a strong choice for full-size classic cars, muscle cars, trucks, EFI conversions, and custom fuel-tank setups.
Optional -8 ORB end caps are available for high-flow, high-horsepower applications using larger vent lines.
Best for: Full-size vehicles, EFI and custom fuel systems, high-performance builds, and applications where maximum charcoal capacity is the priority.

Low Profile Vapor Trapper: A Clean Direct-Mount Option
The Low Profile Vapor Trapper is designed for builds where a cylindrical unit is not the cleanest or most practical fit.
Its rectangular billet-aluminum body mounts directly to a flat surface, making it ideal for frame rails, underbody areas, trunk panels, and installations with limited vertical clearance.
Choose the Low Profile model when:
You want a clean, streamlined installation
You have a flat mounting surface
A cylindrical canister will not fit comfortably
Appearance and packaging are important
You want the unit mounted directly to the vehicle
The Low Profile design works especially well on detailed custom builds where every component needs to look intentional.
Best for: Frame-rail mounting, tight vertical spaces, show-quality builds, and clean direct-mount installations.

When Do You Need a High Performance Model?
High Performance Vapor Trapper models are designed for fuel systems using larger vent lines.
Standard configurations are commonly used with 1/4-inch or 3/8-inch vent hose. High Performance configurations use -8 AN end caps and can accommodate a 1/2-inch vent connection.
Consider a High Performance model when:
Your existing vent line is 1/2 inch
You are using a high-flow fuel system
The vehicle pushes high horsepower
The application requires increased tank ventilation
You do not want to reduce the size of an existing vent line
High Performance options are available in both cylindrical and Low Profile configurations.
Horsepower does not always determine which model you need. The existing vent-line size and fuel-system requirements should guide your decision.

Quick Vapor Trapper Size Guide
Model | Designed For |
4-Inch | Tight spaces, compact installations, powersports, UTVs, and smaller vehicles with limited mounting space |
6-Inch | Mid-sized applications where space is limited; optional -8 end caps support higher-airflow vent lines up to 1/2 inch |
8-Inch | High-capacity charcoal media for long-lasting performance, EFI fuel-tank setups, and high-flow, high-horsepower applications |
Low Profile | Clean direct-mount installations where a cylindrical canister is not the best fit |
High Performance | Applications requiring optional -8 ORB end caps, higher airflow, and vent lines up to 1/2 inch |
Remember to Check Your Vent-Line Routing
Choosing the right size is important, but proper vent-line routing also affects performance.
The fuel-tank vent line should rise at least 8 inches above the gas tank before routing downward toward the canister. This helps prevent liquid fuel from entering and saturating the charcoal during filling, hard cornering, or fuel slosh.
Vapor Trapper canisters can be installed in nearly any orientation, allowing builders to work around frame rails, fuel tanks, suspension components, and other space limitations.
Every Vapor Trapper is also rechargeable. When the charcoal media eventually needs to be serviced, it can be replaced without throwing away the billet-aluminum canister.
Find the Right Vapor Trapper for Your Setup
Choose the 4-inch Vapor Trapper for compact vehicles and tight spaces, the 6-inch for mid-sized applications, or the 8-inch for maximum capacity and if you have room.
Choose the Low Profile model when you want a clean direct-mount installation, and select a High Performance configuration when your fuel system uses a larger vent line up to 1/2 inch.
Still unsure? Send us your vehicle’s year, make and model, vent-line size, fuel-system details, and a photo of the available mounting space. We will help you find the right setup.
